About Polish Economic Society Branch Gdańsk

The Polish Economic Society (Polskie Towarzystwo Ekonomiczne, PTE) is an independent national association of economists. It was established in 1945. At present the Society has 6000 ordinary members and about 220 supporting members (firms, financial institutions, banks). The Polish Economic Society is a member of the International Economic Association and maintains broad international contacts. PTE consists of 24 autonomous regional Branches, whose activities are co-ordinated by the National Board. Branch in Gdańsk cooperates on daily basis with 20 people, and also works in close cooperation with University of Gdańsk representatives. We also have a PN-EN ISO 9001:2009 Certificate Nr 1132/2012, which confirms our educational and training skills.
The Society's principle aim is to contribute by its activities to the development of economic thought and culture in Polish society.

This is reflected in the following statutory objectives:

  • To promote economic knowledge and dissemination of economic culture in society.
  • To initiate and support activities aimed at social, economic and regional development of the country in an environmentally friendly manner.
  • To disseminate economic ideas and support the creation of favorable conditions for the development of the science of economics and the presentation of their achievements.
  • To enhance the qualifications of economists in their various areas of professional specialty
  • To seek the integration of economists representing academic science as well as business activities.
